Art Spectrum^® Whiting is an inert Chalk (Calcium Carbonate) used as a filler for water-based paints and to extend oil colours. It is also used in making traditional grounds for oil painting and the production of artists’ soft pastels.

Art Spectrum^® Calcite is a fine dense white Chalk (Calcium Carbonate) used as a filler for water-based paints to increase opacity and to extend oil colours. Calcite has a lower oil absorbency rate than Whiting. It will provide extra tooth when used in the making of traditional grounds for oil painting.
