Burnishers are used to polish areas on metal plates, bringing tone to an image and smoothing out filed edges. Burnishers are also used in jewellery making to set stones. They may be cleaned and poished with emery cloth or paper as needed and lubricated during use with machine oil.

The ball burnisher features a highly polished 2mm steel ball set atop a wooden handle, suitable for burnishing very small areas.

The straight burnisher is made frompolished high grade carbon steel mounted in a 10cm wooden handle.
